SHFC on 1st Internal Auditing Week Celebration: Ensure Best Practices to Ensure Trust, Integrity in the Housing Sector

QUEZON CITY – Led by President and CEO Federico Laxa, the Social Housing Finance Corporation joined the kickoff ceremony of the first-ever Internal Auditing Week held at the DHSUD Building in Quezon City. Spearheaded by the Internal Audit Offices of Key Shelter Agencies, the occasion aims to raise awareness of the importance of internal auditing within the housing sector.

In his speech, Laxa called for the unity of internal auditors under the DHSUD umbrella and praised their dedication to upholding integrity and professionalism. “Let us ensure the seamless integration of internal audit best practices to further enhance our organizational resilience and safeguard the integrity of the housing sector,” he said. “After all, the trust of the people is our cornerstone, and internal audit fortifies that trust.”

Ricojudge Janvier Echiverri, Deputy Executive Secretary for Internal Audit of the Office of the President, underscored the vital role of internal audit in ensuring good governance and efficient operations within the government.

DHSUD Usec. Atty. Randy Escolango, Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene Acosta, NHMFC President Renato Tobias, HSAC Commissioner Melzar Galicia, and NHA Assistant General Manager Alvin Feliciano each delivered a message emphasizing the significance of the event and the importance of internal audit in delivering effective and responsive public service.

In a video message, DBM Sec. Amenah Pangandaman expressed support for the initiative, while COA Director Atty. Fidela Tan, shared tips on avoiding audit observation memorandums (AOM) by implementing a sound internal control system.

SHFC Executive Vice President Atty. Junefe Payot and SHFC Internal Audit Vice President Lourdes Panaligan were also in attendance.
